- Master's Degree in Biology doing Parasitology with Dr. Wallace Harmon at CSUF.
- Graduate of University of California, Davis, Medical School.
- Internship and Residency at Valley Medical Center (now University Medical Center), Fresno.
- Board Certified Internal Medicine Specialist and Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
- Twenty years of private practice in Fresno.
- Member of the Wilderness Medical Society.
- Member of American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. ( ASTMH )
- Member of the International Society of Travel Medicine (ASTM)
- Extensive travel, including Thailand, Japan, Scotland, England, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the former USSR, Micronesia (including Palau, Truk, and Pohnpei), Grand Cayman, Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, Roatan, Turks,  Caico BWI Islands, Peru and South Africa.
- Helped in the development and has worked for over fourteen years in a medical clinic in the state of Sinaloa, Mexico. This Clinic in Ocaroni provides care to underserved residents and is run by the Central San Joaquin Valley Chapter of Liga, International.
- Affiliated with Diver's Alert Network (DAN) for over twelve years.
- Completed multiple courses on diving illness sponsored by DAN throughout the world.
- Visited the new DAN headquarters in Durham, North Carolina, and toured the decompression research facilities at the Duke University Campus. 
                                             - Completed International Travel Medicine courses sponsored by Duke University, at Durham, North Carolina, and the Wilderness Medical Society in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the University of Washington in Seattle, and the

University of California, Davis, in Belize.
- Completed nine week Diplomat and Expert Gorgas courses in Clinical Tropical Medicine in Lima,Peru, in '00 and '03, respectively. Part of the Diplomat Course also took place in Cusco & Iquitos, Peru.
